“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.” –Carl Rogers
Mental health struggles often include critical self-talk and negative self-beliefs. I believe Carl Rogers was correct in identifying that in order to change ourselves -- whether that be behaviors that don’t serve us, thoughts that tear us down, or emotions that seem uncontrollable – we must first learn to embrace ourselves for exactly who we are, at this very moment, faults and all. Once we learn to love and accept ourselves, change becomes an act of self-love rather than a punishment for our failings. We become more authentic and self-honoring along the journey.
I consider it an honor to work with clients who are on this journey of self-discovery and self-love. I take a strengths-based approach with clients to help them better see their own value and worth. I work with clients to build upon those strengths, helping them use self-compassion and insight along their path of recovery. I often use a mixture of techniques, including:
· Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
· Existential Therapy
· Psychodynamic Therapy
· Attachment-Based Therapy
· Motivational Interviewing
· Trauma Informed Care
· Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
· Mindfulness
I work with clients struggling with a variety of mental health concerns. Some of the issues I work with clients on include:
· Anxiety
· Depression
· Trauma
· Grief
· Self Esteem
· Life Transitions
· Relationship Issues
· Career Transitions
· Family Conflict
· Spiritual Awakening or Conflict
· Dual Disorders or Co-Occurring Disorders
If anything here resonates with you, it would be my honor to walk with you on your path of healing and recovery. Please contact me to schedule a free 10-minute phone consultation.
